One way of predicting the aging process is to determine the length of leukocytes of telomeres. Telomeres are tiny components of DNA that protect the end pieces of chromosomes. Each time your cells divide, the telomeres become a little shorter. Now you can take your health into your own hands and have your actual biological age determined.
Determination of the index (T / S ratio) of the relative telomere length of the leukocytes. The telomere length is set in relation to the relevant population sample.
The molecular biological test is currently only offered in Germany by GANZIMMUN Diagnostics AG.
Important information at a glance. In addition to the exact determination of telomere lengths, you will also receive further diagnostic recommendations and health tips.
Since 2010, the laboratory GANZIMMUN Diagnostics AG has been accredited by the German Accreditation (DAkkS) as a medical laboratory according to the standard DIN EN ISO / IEC 15189: 2014.
For the telomere length measurement, the genomic DNA of the peripheral leukocytes is extracted from a blood sample. As a measure of the relative mean telomere length, the ratio (T/S ratio) of the variable telomere length to the constant length of a gene present once in the genome (single copy gene) is then determined as the standard reference using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Q-PCR). The individual test result is then compared with the data from a database relevant for the age group and compared with the clinical averages.
The laboratory medical report has the claim to offer you transparency and real added value. Your examination results can also be recorded quickly by the non-specialist and are understandable in structure and language.
"Shortened telomeres are a consequence of damaging or stressful events for our body cells. Telomer length can therefore be seen as a holistic indicator for lifelong influences: both for positive, regenerative such as good physical fitness, sufficient sleep and a healthy diet, as well as for negative, harmful such as chronic stress, frequent diseases or obesity."
